I got my MacBook!

July 31st, 2006 at 1:18 pm by Laycie

Yippee for me, I got a MacBook and it is so rad-tastic! We sold the iMac so we could get it which is why the long delay in my posting. Now I am back and part of the computer world again thanks to my new laptop.

There are so many things to write about that I could just write them all out right now and make this a super long diarrhea of the finger tips post, but I don’t really want to do that because what if I have nothing good to write tomorrow, I’ll be wishing I would have saved something.

We went to the cabin in Seaside with Michael’s parents this weekend and we did some clearing out of a much stuffed garage because they are getting cement poured. We came back Saturday and on the way I noticed all these things that people do to drive me crazy.

First up is people putting those little shaded covers over the license plates of their cars. People, why do you do this? Are you so bad ass that you’re robbing banks and road raging and you can’t take the chance of someone writing down your plate number? Or are you just such a loser that you want people to think you’re a bad ass so you put these on. Whatever the reason is, your F#@$ing retarded.

Here is a little blurb I got from this blog just to help support my case. This shit drives me crazy so the fact that it isn’t legal is just the icing on my cake. Mmm that was yummy.

Plates usually are either directly fixed to a vehicle, or may be located in a plate frame which is itself fixed to the vehicle. Sometimes the plate frames contain advertisements inserted by the vehicle service centre or the dealership from which the vehicle was purchased. Vehicle owners can purchase customized and specialty frames to replace the original frames. In some U.S. states, such as New Jersey license plate frames are illegal. Usually plates are designed to conform to certain standards of clarity with regards to being read by the human eye in day or at night, or by electronic equipment.

Some drivers purchase smoke-colored or tinted covers that go over the license plate, usually to prevent such electronic equipment from scanning the license plate number. Although useful to those avoiding detection from police, these covers are not legal in the entire U.S. and are looked down upon in other countries.”

Coming up next time will be more things that drive me crazy. Till then have a laugh and watch this super funny video. It’s the funniest!

Salad Dressing and Movies. . .

July 13th, 2006 at 12:20 pm by Laycie

So this last weekend after the quilt show I went over to our friends Justin and Sabina’s house because Michael had spent the day with them and we were all going to have dinner together. They had already eaten by the time I got there, so I pigged out solo on some super yummy pizza and salad. Anyway this salad dressing they had was so yum-yum! It is Newman’s Own, lowfat Sesame Ginger. Maybe you wanna try it because it is magical. I love it and bought some and we ate it last night. . .

After the eating I went to the video store with Sabina. There is a lot of movies out right now. I was trying to remember things so I could add them to my netflix queue, which already has like 300 things in it by the way. So we rented Flight Plan and The Perfect Man.

I liked both movies, but probably wouldn’t watch either of them again. I don’t really like Jodie Foster, and I’m not sure why but she just doesn’t do it for me. The other movie was real cute, more of a teen movie than I thought it was going to be, more Hilary Duff than Heather Locklear (Who is so pretty. . .) Yeah so that’s all I’ve got to say for now. Try that new dressing (I’m not sure if it’s new, but it’s yummy) and go ahead and see Flight Plan but don’t buy it, unless you totally can’t get enough of Jodie Foster.

Oooh wait, more movies
. We watched March of the Penguins awhile ago, that movie was so good! I loved it, the penguins are so cute and it is just amazing what animals do. Then we saw Grandma’s Boy at Bart and Summer’s; OMG that was funny!

Crazy cats . . .

July 13th, 2006 at 12:04 pm by Laycie

As I have told you before Princess is now completely senile. Some days all she does is sleep and eat and other days all she does is beg for food and eat. Well right now she is being a beggar. She just paces around the house waiting for me to walk into the kitchen so she can ambush me and let me know she wants more food.

The thing is
, if I actually feed her everytime she wants food she just gets so stuffed that she pukes. Yeah so cleaning that up isn’t fun. I limit her intake to the reccomended amount on the back of the food can but she makes me feel like I’m starving her to death.

The whole point of me posting this right now is that the funniest thing just happened. I walked out to the kitchen and Princess was sitting by the fridge. Sitting, not laying and she had her eyes shut. I got real close to her and was looking at her and she was fully asleep. She had fell asleep sitting up, waiting for me to open the fridge.

When she woke up she meowed at me and I started craking up. I don’t know, it was the funniest damn thing I have ever seen. She’s crazy, maybe I’m crazier, who knows :)

Running, Injuries and more. . .

July 12th, 2006 at 5:24 pm by Laycie

Marlee tore the cartilage in her knee last week and she is having surgery tomorrow. Let all hope she makes a quick recovery and gets back to being the running hero she is to all of us. So for her this injury means no Hood to Coast and she told me she is “going to watch us run Portland this year, so you better keep training”. Hear that Rhianna and Michael, no getting out of the Marathon just because Marlee isn’t participating. Nah, we wouldn’t do that, tha marathon is just about the funnest thing we’ve all done! I will grab some chocolate for you after the race though Marlee.

Okay so I hope Marlee gets better real fast and I hope that nothing happens to us now. Bad things come in threes (that’s what I’ve always been told anyway) so yeah, anyway . . . sometimes I have no idea what my mind or my hands are doing yet I’m going to publish this to the internet, okay, sure.

In other news, I found one of my old high school friends on MySpace and I am going to call her now. Not right now, but like tomorrow. Yay, another friend, now I have three. ha ha. MySpace is crazy like that though, it’s like a high school reunion before the reunion. I like it for finding people I want to find though, it’s good stuff that way. Though sometimes I am ebarassed to be a MySpacer.

Okay I’m buring dinner, the house is filling with smoke. I gotstago!

Sorry Jason, RRRrrrrr.

July 11th, 2006 at 7:25 pm by Laycie

Jason sent me this link to a cat video on YouTube, which is entirely the whole reason I got addicted to the website. I mean video blogs, LOVE THEM! I really did not need another thing to suck the time out of my life but at least I don’t have T.V., that would be insane!

So thanks Jason on so many levels . . .

I ran about 7 miles last night with Michael, it was a lot of fun, not totally easy but definitely fun. Rhianna needs to get her butt over here and run with me too, but no she had to go and move to BFE. (bum f@#k egypt, it’s something Bart says all the time) Yeah so if you’re reading this Rhianna maybe you’ll give me a call and we can do some running cause you sure as hell know I’m not calling your a$$. ha ha, I’m not funny.

Okay so no earth shattering news for today, I’m still feeling good about the big decision I made yesterday and that’s about it.

A lot to talk about . . .

July 10th, 2006 at 2:50 pm by Laycie

I wanted to make this big nice post with pretty pictures of what I have been doing lately but right now I cannot. The computer was making funny noises (turned out to be the fan) and Michael thought our hard drive was about to crash so he backed up everything and then took our computer to the Apple store. They fixed our fan but Michael didn’t put my pictures back on the computer yet, they are on a nice little Lacie external hard drive. The fact that I don’t know how to get them back on the computer myself, or that I don’t want to try to figure out how to, is going to make this next little thing I talk about seem like I’m not as smart as I should be.

So, I’m 26. . . I feel like I’m having a mid life crisis or something, isn’t that supposed to be in 10 more years? I cannot figure out what the heck to do with my measly little life. I feel like I could go so many different ways but none of them are calling my name. I see all these paths but I want a little green elf to entice me down one of them. (note to elf: I like cupcakes) I have been having the hardest time making a choice.

The thing with inner battles is that they are inside you and most people don’t even know you’re having them. I try hard to keep people from knowing how crazy it is inside my head, and I’m pretty good most of the time but I feel like I can’t really pretend anymore. I am completely drowning in feelings of waste. Time is just flying by and I feel like I’m wasting it. I should be doing big smart things but I just sit at home all day and play on the computer, sew a few things and talk to my cats. I have to do something more!

School, school, school. . . it has been a fun adventure. The spring of ‘04 had me bonkers in a theory of computation class I was ill prepared for and if I heard just one word of programming jargon I wanted to die. My brain had had enough, computer science had pooped me out. . . So I decided, hey I’ll major in Biology. I love Science and animals and blah blah blah. So in the Fall it was biology and chemistry 24-7. I memorized so much stuff my brain was overwriting itself. It was fun and it was hard but I just had enough. Being in school for that many years and basically starting over again with a major wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. So I ran away.

I left WOU during winter term of ‘05. It’s been a year and a half and I don’t regret leaving but I do regret not having the slightest idea of what to do with myself. (enter picture of my ripping my hair out here)

After some recent sleepless nights I decided that I am going back to finish my degree. Whether or not I use it to get a job doesn’t really matter to me but if I finish then I will feel like I have accomplished something. So that was a big decision to make, but it only gets more complicated from there. Do I go back to WOU? Do I transfer to PSU? Do I change my major?

I have spent my entire morning and early after noon on the computer, as usual, but this time I was doing something more important than watching YouTube. I looked into PSU but decided to just re-enroll at Western. I was looking at what I need to do to finish up in Computer Science, which was my initial major and the only air I breathed for my first 2 years at WOU. It turns out I only have 28 credits left . . . HMMMMMmmmmm. .. .

If I want to continue with biology I have, oh just 55 credits. . . yeah so that makes my decision a little simpler. So as of right this minute I intend on finishing up my Computer Science degree at WOU. Who knows, maybe I might change my mind again but I feel pretty good right now at least. I just sent off the form for re-enrollment, one step closer to feeling like a winner!

Wow I have written a lot, sorry for rambling but you have to remember I am home alone with the cats and spunky doesn’t give a rat’s a$$ about what I have to say.

So today is July 10th, classes begin September 25th. I have a little over two months to freshen up on all the Computer Science stuff I learned 3 years ago. I will be sure to bore you with how that goes . . .

The Fiona Apple concert was awesome! It was a beautiful day and she was just great to see. She is so pretty and has the biggest eyes and her little dances were so cute. She really gets into her performance and her voice is even better live. Damien Rice opened for her and he was really really great. I’m glad I took initiative and used Michael’s credit card to buy the tickets, way worth it!

The fourth of July was also good times. We had a bunch of people out at the River and Michael cooked up some burgers (I squished them into patties, yah me!) and we played Catch Phrase with two big teams, super fun! Justin brought out some cool fireworks and Michael helped him set them off.

We stayed up pretty late eating smores and all that. We stayed the night outside in sleeping bags with my mom and the next day we cleaned up. After party clean up is not good times. ha ha.

Okay what else can I talk about now. . . how about the fact that our toilet is sitting out in the yard. Yeah that isn’t ghetto at all. There is a toilet in the house we are working on out front so we just use that one for now. The toilet should be back in tonight or tomorrow, we put tile on the floor and repaired some dry rot, incase you think we just took the toilet out for a fun social experiment.

I went to the quilt show in Sister’s with Marlee on Saturday. It was hot but we had lots of fun. We saw some cool quilts, ate some yummy pizza and even had an ice cream cone. But the best thing of all is that I got a quilt. It is a double wedding ring pattern and so beautiful. Since I’m broke as a joke right now Marlee bought it and told me I could make payments to her, hope $5 a month works for you Marlee. ha ha just kidding, I can totally do $10. man I’m such a geek.

Okay so let me think if there is anything else I can say to make this post any longer or more dorky. I saw a video of a cat going #2 on the toilet on YouTube. That was cool. . . I’ll just add that here for your veiwing pleasure . . .
